Cloud and DevOps

My career to date has taken me on an interesting journey through the evolution of Cloud and DevOps. I started out as a Linux engineer on the service desk of a mission critical web hosting company in 2004. Back then the services offered by the company I worked for were limited to large enterprise mainly due to the cost. Everything ran on bare metal and everything was bespoke. I've watched the landscape evolve through the emergence and proliferation of hardware virtualisation, the consolidation of hosting efforts brought on by public cloud offerings from the hyper-scalers, and the advent of Cloud Native.

I fought in the old 'Dev' and 'Ops' wars before it was known that we could peacefully co-exist.

There have been a lot of things that I have learned along the way and I hope to use this platform as a means to record them somewhere in the hopes that maybe it can help someone else on their own path.

The other constant within this field is that there is always change. I will do my best to document my experiences as I continue to explore and journey into the wild unknown.
